It's getting colder by the day, and I don't know about you but I am so ready for cosy nights by the fire, crisp winter walks with the kids and the dog and sunday roasts. Last year I made myself some alpaca mittens which I wore to death. They certainly weren't perfect, the thumb position needed adjusting and the I worked them in closed rounds so they had an ugly seam around them. This year I have made a lot more amigurumi projects and this has certainly helped get my head round the mitten design in my head. So here is is.

This pattern is written in UK terms but you can find US stitch conversion in the abbreviations below.

I have used Rico Design Fashion Alpaca Dream yarn, but you can swap this out with any standard chunky weight yarn

You will need:

  • 2x 50g balls of Fashion Alpaca Dream
  • 5mm crochet hook
  • contrasting colour yarn to mark stitches
  • scissors
  • darning needle
